Stratus Tollgate Sauvignon Blanc | Semillon 2019
Lovely light gold cast to the colour, thanks to the sémillon.
A soft musky nose of melon and Bosc pear with whispers of sorrel, guava and white grapefruit in the background.
On the palate, the sauvignon gives it a delicious, vibrant attack with guava and citrus notes but the richer, more languid Semillon’s role is to add an undercurrent of richer fruits like pear, green grape and white melon. This results in some surprising breadth and balance on the plush finish, especially for an ABV of just under 12%.
Serve with local pickerel steamed with scallions and ginger OR salmon with a caperchive butter.
