From legendary winemaker Matthieu Barret of Domaine de Coulet in Cornas, Barret brings a completely new rosé experience to the bottle here.

Ours Brut is Matthieu Barret's beautiful sparkling wine made from organic and biodynamic Grenache and Gamay. Made with the méthode traditionnel, the Grenache was grown in the village of Roussas, in the Drôme; while the Gamay came from Eclassan, in the highlands of Ardéche.

The grapes were directly pressed and fermented with indigenous yeasts. The wine aged for six months in stainless steel tanks before the prise de mousse, and stayed six months in bottle before the disgorgement.

With a beautiful and intense salmon red colour with orange hues in the glass, this ancestral has a fine and mesmerizing perlage. Tart, nutty and intensely spicy.  On the nose bitter oranges, grapefruit and blood oranges are loudly represented. Pomegranate and sour cherry are hardly inferior. Aromas of walnuts, hazelnuts and pecans give it a distinct note; and hints of orange blossom and orange zest give this ancestral softness and freshness. Ripe apples, caramelised quince and bread dough round it off.

The mousse spreads pleasantly. The perlage hits the nerve and makes the Ours Brut vibrant and refreshing. On the palate, the fruit remains discreetly in the background. Chalky and dry on the palate, the acidity kicks in just right and makes it seem leaner. In the aftertaste, bitter oranges and grapefruit with tart notes bloom, making it a great food companion.
