Eva Fricke, whose domain, located in the town of Eltville am Rhein, is one of the most exciting young winemakers in Germany today. “Fricke isn’t an area native, nor was she born into an established winemaking family. The daughter of two doctors from Lower Saxony—beer rather than wine country—she first arrived in the Rheingau by way of the renowned oenological school at Geisenheim. But she didn’t stay put for long. Upon completing her studies, Fricke racked up experience in such far-flung destinations as Bordeaux, Piedmont, Ribera del Duero and Australia. So it was not by chance, but by conscious design, that she returned to the region, eventually settling in the lower Rheingau area, where she has quickly emerged as a rising star

The 2020 Kiedrich Riesling Trocken is dry, clear, pure, and flinty, elegant and complex. A beautifully silky and coolish, classic Rheingau Riesling with a nose that indicates finely weathered and spicy slate and quartzite soils with delicate fruit or even floral aromas. On the palate, it is wide and juicy, very fine and elegant, perfectly balanced Riesling with fine, crystalline acidity structure and a long and intense, well concentrated but always salty-crystalline finish. This is a gorgeous Kiedricher Riesling with very delicate tannic grip on the finish.
