In the words of their creators, Sara Pérez and René Barbier, co-owners of the Venus La Universal winery, the red wine Venus La Universal is, among other things, an ode to femininity. Moreover, it is also an uncompromisingly terroir-oriented Spanish red wine. An exquisite creation that aims to express the most gentle, delicate side of its land of origin, the DO Montsant.

Harvest was extremely meticulous, as each variety was collected at a different time depending on its ripening state. After a cold-soaking process, and being only partially destemmed, all of the grapes were fermented with indigenous yeasts in wooden vats. Sporadic punch-downs were performed in order to foster the contact of this Crianza red wine with the grape skins. Finally, Venus La Universal 2019 was aged for 6 months in 4,500-litre oak vats and for 27 months in 2,500-litre oak vats before its bottling.

Crafted from old vine Carignan, Garnacha, and Syrah this wine is bold and oaky with deep fruit fruits, spice, black pepper and leather. Decanting will help to open up the wine and soften the tannins.
