Nathalie and Isabelle are the daughters of Jean-Claude and Christiane Wudan, who have taken the wine-making reins of these 70-year-old Chardonnay vines in one of the most exemplary wine regions in the world: Chablis. Note the rarity of the designation of “Premier Cru,” which means that it is from highly regarded vineyards known for their positioning and unique soil typicity. Furthermore, note the name of said vineyard plot on the label “Vaugirault.” Of the 70 named vineyard plots in this zone, only 40 are, by law, allowed to be featured on the label. The wines tend to have a richer fruit profile and a distinct flinty minerality (think of a freshly lit match).

With a lovely perfume of fresh-squeezed lemon, beeswax and limestone minerality, the palate is equally loaded with citrus bursts, honeydew flavours and juicy acidity.

Get this wine if you love palaeontology, as Chablis vines are grown in soil with fossilised oyster shells from the Jurassic Period! And while Chablis and Oysters are as synonymous as peanut butter and jelly, this wine would go just as well with Lobster Thermidor.
