Bodegas Moraza Soplar 2020
Janire is the 6th generation winemaker at the family Moraza. She urged her father and uncle to convert their 18 hectares to organic farming. All the wines are naturally fermented, unfiltered and single grape to ensure a true expression of the variety. They use only cement fermenters for vinification and ageing. One could say these are ‘modern’ Riojas, astonishingly fresh and unoaked. The wines of this small Spanish bodega are made from vines managed biodynamically and with the least intervention possible. Easy to drink, fruity and floral, this blend of Grenache and Tempranillo is fermented from natural yeasts and is bottled without going into barrels. Only working with varietals from the Rioja, each varietal is grown to express the full potentialThis nearly translucent red wine is lively with notes of cherry cola, sarsaparilla whiffs, terracotta scents and dried flowers. Succulent texture, supple, red berried, fresh fruit, pure and lively. Has this almost thirst-quenching thing going on. Deserves a chill, all nouveau and jiggly fresh and fun, though there's more under the hood.
