Domaine Cyrot-Buthiau Clos Rousseau 2018
This comes from the section of this vineyard called Petit Clos Rousseau, likely due to the fact that the lay of the land is such that the rows are shorter in this section of the vineyard. The name may come from the local dialectical word for Chardonnay (once grown here), or from the technique used in clearing the land to plant grapes. However the name arises, it is a very fine site, and in 2018 produced a wine with very pure fruit and lots of fine-grained structure behind it.
A restrained and cool but clearly ripe nose features notes of violets, plum and earth where the latter element is more prominent still. There is good punch to the notably rich flavors that retain moderately good detail on the rustic but delicious finale where the wood is more completely integrated.
Domaine Cyrot-Buthiau Clos Rousseau 2018 is backordered and will ship as soon as it is back in stock.
