Francois Gay et Fils Savigny Beaune 1er Cru Les Teurons 2018
Father and son team, François and Pascal Gay, are based in Chorey-les-Beaune and produce a range of wines from different local appellations (Beaune, Chorey, Savigny, Ladoix, Corton). Les Teurons' is one of the 42 Premier Cru vineyards (there are no Grand Crus in Beaune) that sits in the middle of this 400+ hectare appellation, just outside the iconic home of the Burgundy wine trade. The wines produced by Domaine François Gay et Fils are expressive of the terroir, powerful and fruit-forward, yet with detail and complexity, and which improve with age - it is their intention to produce 'pleasure wines.'
This muscular, dry, medium-bodied Pinot Noir requires 3 to 5+ years cellaring before starting to reveal its potential. Complex game and forest floor aromas are supported by concentrated dark cherry and damson flavours against a background of rugged tannins.
