Norma Jean Lowrey Harber’s family has farmed the Ravine Vineyard Estate in St David’s, Niagara, since 1867. This particular block of Cabernet Franc is dedicated to her late sister Lonna who cared for the horses that resided at the end of the Cabernet Franc vines.

The Lonna’s Block is distinctly different from the rest of the Cabernet Franc grown on-site, mainly due to the soil types. Whatever the reason, what makes this wine particularly fantastic in almost a Willy Wonka-esque fashion is that it is a pizza wine! It has all the flavours of a pepperoni pizza; stewed tomatoes, dried oregano, cured meat, green pepper and mozzarella cheese.

Get this wine if you have difficulty pulling out aromas and flavours in wine. It’s distinct and approachable and generally fun! If you are wondering, yes, pair it with pizza!
