St John Beausoleil Rose 2021
If you consider yourself a "foodie," you may well be familiar with the pig on the label of this wine. It's the logo of the world-famous St. John restaurant in London, where chef Fergus Henderson has elevated the concept of "nose-to-tail" eating to fine-dining levels. They're equally renowned, however, for their fantastically diverse and approachable wine list, and this rosé is no exception! It's part of their own-label collection of "house wines," which have been especially selected as delicious, representative expressions of their region.
This St. John Beausoleil (which means "beautiful sun") rosé is made from 100% Grenache, and hails from an area called Côtes de Thau, in Southern France's Languedoc region. The grapes are picked early to preserve freshness, and the juice spends minimal time on skins to keep the colour light and the tannins low. The resulting wine is dry, fresh, and approachable, perfect for a warm summer day.
