Solicantus Melodie Du Sol Cotes de Bordeaux Rouge 2019
From the rolling hills of the Blaye region comes “Solicantus”. “Soli” meaning soil and "Cantus” meaning melody in Latin. True to its word, this wine was created in perfect harmony with the savoir faire of the winemakers and the rich terror of the region. The old vines average to about 35 years grown on clay and limestone soils. Sustainable and organic viticulture have always been practiced and now the vineyard is officially in conversion to organic.
This vintage was harvested late September and early October, vinified in steel tanks followed by four weeks of maceration to extract flavours, tannins, and colour. This wine is a blend of 90% Merlot, 5% Cabernet Sauvignon and 5% Malbec, aged for 18 months in French oak barrels.
On the nose the wine is inviting with a charming bouquet of ripe red and black fruits with nuances of spice and refined cedar. A tapestry of rich and intense flavours engulf the palette. The fruits’ tannins and acidity are beautifully balanced with a vibrant structure.
